Why join Scouting?

The Mission of the Boy Scouts and the Patriots' Path Council's; Vision follow the Scout Oath and Law which instills values in our children of good character, citizenship and personal fitness. But most of all, youth members and their families, come to us for a great time and for adventures that will be cherished for a lifetime.

Who can join?

Scouts offers programs for boys in grades 1-12 and coed programs for girls and boys ages 14-21. Boys ages 6-11 join Cub Scouts which includes Tiger Scouts (first grade) through Webelos (fourth-fifth grade). Boys ages 11-17 join Boy Scouts. Boys and girls grades 1-12 can join Jockey Hollow for special needs Scouts. Boys and girls ages 14-21 join Venture Crews. The Patriots' Path council serves youth in Morris, Somerset, Sussex, Union counties and portions of Middlesex County New Jersey.

What does Scouting Cost?

A Scout will need to pay an annual registration, insurance fee and activity fee currently totaling $35 for a year . Scouts also have the option of purchasing a subscription to Boys' Life magazine currently $12 for a year. Cub and Boy Scouts will also need to purchase a handbook and uniform for his rank, either Tiger, Wolf, Bear or Webelos. These are available at any of our Scout Shops. Many packs also charge an annual program fee for supplies and entry fees for field trips. Financial assistance is available for those in need. Contact the council office for current fee information and financial needs.

Who leads the group?

Each unit is run by volunteers that have been registered with the Boy Scouts of America and received training. Parents and the charter organization decide who will be the leaders to work with the Scouts.

How do I become a volunteer?
